I am afraid.
To Lose what i have.
To Move when in comfort.
To Speak up and say what i think.
To Act on what what i want to do.
As educators playing a responsible role, this doesn't help. Its possible i believe that i bring a fearless, courageous self into the teaching / learning / leadership space. Can that really be so? I notice that all it needs is a trigger that gives life to my fears in an instant!
The 2-days in-person intends to throw into your world a bunch of possibilities to see these two words in a way that might take away some of the drama we create in our lives! Maybe even see how we engage with them in hilarious and playful ways!
We will also look at how to recognise fear and resistance in the people we work with, and ways to deal with it in group settings.

footnote
what an odd word . . . "communication"!
It literally means "to make common" or to "share something with others".
In the world we currently live in, everything is about difference and comparison. Gotta be better, bigger, richer, smarter, faster, intelligenter (i know . . there isn't such a word; it just sounds so right though!). Where shall i find commonality?! If i think i am worser, smaller, poorer, slower, dumber than you, is communication even possible?!
Over the 2-days we will do some dissections - of words! Re-define what we can do to find commonality, and the words to say things that invite people into dialogue. Explore what it means when i say "i felt heard", and practice those behaviours in serious play! Learn to receive before we give.
does learning happen in the classroom?
How do know i have learned . . anything? Somebody said the sequence is: Event . . . .Reflection . . . .Connection . . .Application! Yippee! But as an educator, i walk in and out of classrooms, often really never sure about how many learned anything. Of course there are some **** ways that are used to measure, yet i am not convinced that it means anything.
The 2-days explore some things about learning. Then we choose some of those things and build a method to help students become a little more intentional and effective in their own lives. It will include methods of conducting reflection at all stages, and elements in Designing journeys.
so many ways of doing anything!
I have tolerated thinking about this for 38 years! Do i know how to design activities? learning? journeys? What exactly is this vocation i am in?! Thats not confusion. Its just that DESIGN means different things to people.
The 2-days are designed to offer you tons of fluffy ways to design experiences for your audience . . . and at the end of it, maybe we will be able to use some form, structure, linearity even, to make the whole act feel like an art form!
You will be designing bold ways to create disequilibrium for your audience. So i hope you have some experience in this field of experiential education.
To make the experience valuable, engaging and rich, we will need at least 15 participants in these sessions. If we do not have those numbers, your fee will be refunded.
So if these topics appear exciting enough, pass on the energy!
